Hidden camera caper: Homestay owner who filmed guests naked fine RM10k

IPOH: A homestay owner who filmed eight of his guests naked while taking their bath was fined RM10,000 here yesterday.

Lim Lai Heng, 45, pleaded guilty to filming three men and five women naked with a hidden camera at the homestay on Jul 27 in 2014.

Lim had placed a closed circuit television camera in a bathroom on the second floor of the premise, the Ipoh Garden Homestay in Canning Garden.

Three charges framed under the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of the eight people aged betwen 17 and 53 were brought against him.

In the first charge, which involved three victims, Lim was fined RM4,000.

A second charge also involved three victims and he was fined the same amount.

The third charge saw him fined RM2,000 for a case that involved two victims.

Magistrate Siti Salwa Ja'afar meted out the penalty against Lim who paid the fine.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Azriah Zaid appeared for the prosecution while Dexter Mah represented Lim.
