SHAH ALAM: Seven more men have been remanded for four days beginning today over their alleged involvement in the ‘Nothing To Hide 2.0’ ruckus on Sunday at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested in several areas in Kuala Lumpur.
"The arrests were made in an overnight operation conducted by the state police contingent from Monday at 8pm to 5am today. The suspects comprise students and those who are already working. We are investigating the links between all of the suspects.
"We have been granted a remand order of four days until Friday. So far, a total of 10 people have been arrested since the incident on Sunday," he said, adding that the first three suspects’ remand order will end on Thursday.
Fadzil added that they are also investigating claims that the suspects were paid RM50 to create the ruckus which saw a flare, chairs and slippers being hurled across the hall in the incident.
The incident took place when the forum's featured guest, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was answering a question from an audience member on the 1985 Memali incident in Baling, Kedah.
Shortly after the incident, three teenagers, aged 17,18 and 19 were arrested and subsequently remanded for investigation under Section 15(2)(d) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and Section 153 of the Penal Code (giving provocation with intent to cause riot).
Shah Alam district police chief Shafien Mamat had yesterday said that investigations are also being conducted under Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957 for causing an explosion likely to endanger life or property.
It is learnt that two suspects aged 18 and 19 are students of private colleges in Section 16, here and Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur, while the 17-year-old, who hails from Kangar, Perlis works as a car wash assistant.
Sources said all of them tested negative for drug abuse.
Police also found that the 18-year-old has a pending rape case in court. He is currently out on bail pending trial for a case in Gombak early this year.
