College student reported missing after visit to pasar malam

KUALA LUMPUR: A private college student has been reported missing after leaving his rented apartment in Seksyen 16, Shah Alam, yesterday.

His mother, Noorliah Kasbulah, 48, said her son, Mohammad Hafiz Ismail's girlfriend told her she could not contact Hafiz after he left with a friend for a pasar malam around midnight.

She said Hafiz, 24, had contacted his girlfriend at 12.48am and told her he was going out with a friend known only as Wan to the pasar malam in his Perodua Axia.

"After that, his girlfriend could not reach him and she then informed me about it. We tried calling him but his mobile phone is not active," she said when contacted today.

Noorliah said she tried to get more information on Hafiz's friend, Wan, but was not successful.

“I have only met Wan once, and I did not really see his face properly as we met at night. Hafiz told me before that Wan worked as a food stall helper near his rented apartment, and he treated Wan like a brother," she said, adding that a police report had been lodged at the Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, police station yesterday.

She said Hafiz had never acted like this before and always informed his family of his whereabouts.

"The last time we saw him was when he came home last Sunday for a kenduri. He then returned to his apartment.

“Anyone with information, please go to the nearest police station for further action."

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharuddin Mat Taib when contacted confirmed that a report has been lodged.

“Investigations are ongoing,” he said.
