KUALA LUMPUR: The car of a man who went missing under mysterious circumstances on Thursday was found abandoned in Bandar Baru Klang today.
The black Perodua Axia is believed to have been driven by Mohammad Hafiz Ismail, 24, when he left his home in Rawang to pick up a friend on the morning of March 22.
Hafiz’s father, Ismail Md Ali, was notified of the discovery by his son’s friends, who were also the ones to locate the car.
Ismail had lodged a missing persons report at the Shah Alam Section 9 police station at 12.45am today.
“(His friends) just notified me. I'm heading (to the location where they found the car) now to find out more,” he told the New Straits Times when contacted at around 2pm.
Hafiz is believed to have been heading towards Uptown Shah Alam just after midnight when he disappeared.
One day after going missing, one of his friends uploaded a missing persons notice on Instagram – and the post went viral.
"I need everyone’s help on spreading the news, as he has been missing for more than 24 hours.
"A police report has been lodged,” she wrote.
It is understood that attempts by Hafiz’s father and his friends to contact him since his disappearance proved unsuccessful.
Anyone with information on Hafiz is urged to contact the police immediately.
