KUALA LUMPUR: A politician was arrested at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Imbi early this morning, after he tested positive for drug use.
City Criminal Investigation Department and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had conducted a raid at the outlet after receiving information that the nightspot was operating without a licence.
In one of the rooms, police arrested eight men, two Malaysian women as well as two Indonesian women. The women were believed to be employees of the entertainment outlet.
A drug test revealed that one of the men, who is a politician in his 40s, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamines. Nine other people also tested positive for drug use.
They were handed over to the Dang Wangi police headquarters Narcotic Investigation Department for further action.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
