KUALA LUMPUR: Police today released images of one of the suspects who gunned down Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysia Institut (UniKL BMI) lecturer, Dr Fadi M R Albatsh on Saturday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said at a press conference today, that the photo was obtained following the discovery yesterday of the motorcycle used by the two men near Tasik Danau Kota.
“We managed to get the image of one of the suspects after the motorcycle abandoned by the two men following Saturday’s assassination was found at Tasik Danau Kota.
“We believe the duo are still in the country and those who have information can contact the police,” he said.
Fuzi said the men were believed to have entered the country at the end of January using fake identitification documents.
When asked whether the suspects were Mossad intelligence agents, he said police had no information on that but did not rule out the possibility that they had military training.
Close friends, embassy officials and students of the late lecturer were seen going in and out of Selayang Hospital’s forensic unit this morning, prior to his body being released. His younger brother, Rami Albatsh, who arrived from Germany on Sunday evening, was also there to facilitate the process of flying his body back to Gaza through Egypt this evening.
Palestinian embassy officials were also present to assist in the release process as well as to pay their last respects to the slain lecturer.
Earlier, two embassy officials were seen discussing the release of Fadi’s remains while presenting papers which appeared to be formal documents.
Fadi’s body will be taken to Surau Medan Idaman in Taman Setapak here at about 12 noon before being flown home to Gaza, Palestine.
