Parents of rescued kids urged to come forward

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have urged the parents of children rescued from 20 welfare homes last week to come forward.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain urged the families to come forward immediately and help with investigations.

"At the moment, only one of the victims from the videos that were circulated has been identified.

"This victim was one of the 402 children rescued from the welfare homes," he said on Wednesday.

He said the other children had yet to be identified.

One of the fathers, who has been separated from his son since 2021, lodged a police report in Kluang when he saw the boy allegedly being abused in one of the videos that went viral.

Razarudin was quoted as saying that police received two reports on children being caned repeatedly.

He said one of the police reports was received in Kluang, Johor from the father of one of the children in the video.

Razarudin said another police report was received much earlier before the start of Op Global.

It was reported that police believed more evidence of abuse committed against children in welfare homes allegedly linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd would be uncovered soon.
