BANTING: A lab assistant allegedly stabbed and strangled his colleague to death at the Sultan Abdul Samad Vocational College, here, today.
In the incident this afternoon, the victim, Zaimah Mahmod, 57, was found in the college's office store room.
Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman said they received a call from the suspect who admitted to having killed the victim.
"When he called the police at 2.40pm, the man (suspect) said he had stabbed and strangled a woman to death," he said.
Upon receiving the call, police then rushed to the scene.
"Only the suspect and the victim were at the scene. Several stab wounds were discovered on the victim's neck and body, as well as the murder weapon," Azizan told NSTP.
According to him, initial investigation found that the suspect, 28, was believed to have harboured unhappy feelings on being constantly teased by the victim.
"The victim who was a single mother was said to have constantly teased the suspect for having an affair with another staff at the college," Azizan informed.
"The suspect who had been working there for three months had also received treatment for depression at a hospital apart from having attempted suicide," he added.
Azizan said the suspect was found sitting calmly next to the victim's body when police arrived.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"The victim's body was sent to the Banting Hospital for post-mortem while the suspect was detained to facilitate investigation," Azizan said.
