Caught on camera: Robber hijacks car after robbing shop in Aman Suria (NSTTV)

PETALING JAYA: A robber hijacked a Honda City after staging a daring daylight stick-up at a convenience store in Aman Suria, near here, last Monday.

He had earlier attacked the car owner, who happened to be in the store, in the 9.30am incident.

The hijacking was captured by a CCTV camera and has gone viral on social media today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the lone robber, armed with a parang, initially attacked the shopkeeper, a Bangladeshi national and took some money from the cash register.

"At this moment, the unsuspecting victim (Honda City owner) entered the shop while his wife waited in the car.

"Seeing this, the robber slashed the victim and grabbed his car key. The victim ran after the robber but was once again slashed.

"The victim's wife then left the car and tried to help her husband by pulling the robber away but to no avail."

He said the robber, during the commotion, managed to run into the car and drove off.

Still determined to stop the robber, the victim's wife also got into the car but left seconds later after failing to stop him.

The robber left behind a motorcycle outside the store which police believed to be stolen.

Mohd Zaini said the victim sustained injuries to his face and right arm in the attack and has been taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment. His wife was not injured.

Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi shopkeeper sustained minor slash wounds to his arm and has received treatment.
