Masked robbers slash Pakistani workers at sundry shop

TUMPAT: Two Pakistani workers of a sundry shop were injured when they were slashed by two masked men during a robbery at a sundry shop in Kampung Periok, here, early today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie said the two brothers, who were slashed on both arms, were sent to Tumpat Hospital for treatment.

He said the duo were were in the shop when two men wearing masks entered the premises about 12.30am.

"The two brothers decided to fight the robbers. In the struggle, the foreigners were slashed on their arms.

"The robbers later fled the scene," he said in a statement.

Khairi said the two foreigners were later rushed to hospital, with one of them described as having serious injuries.

"Checks of the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage at the scene showed that the two suspects fled from the place in a Proton Saga with the registration number BKJ 897.

"Police are tracing the car," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 394 of Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery.
