'Abang will surrender to police soon' - Younger brother of man, wanted over stepson's death

KUALA LUMPUR: A relative to a man wanted over the death of his three-year-old stepson believed that the suspect will turn himself to the police soon.

Khairul Mustaffa Khairuddin, 30, believed that his brother, who he fondly refer as ‘abang’, will eventually make the right decision, which and surrender himself to the police.

“I know him very well. My instincts say he will surrender to the police today or tomorrow.

“Not to worry, abang will not run away. He will return home and surrender himself to the authorities when the time comes.

“I am also trying to locate my brother. Although I am aware that my life is also under threat similar to placing one foot in the grave, justice needed to be done for the sake of my nephew and family,” he told the NSTP.

Khairul Mustaffa added he had also received text messages from family members and relatives, who refused to accept and did not condone the alleged act on the victim.

“The family and I have been having sleepless nights for the past five days thinking over this case.

“We hope the case can be resolved as soon as possible,” he said.

The body of the victim, he said, was buried at the Jalan Kuari Muslim Cemetery in Cheras near here at about 5pm yesterday.

“We initially planned to conduct the burial ceremony at a Muslim cemetery near Taman Teratai here.

“The family, however, was told that the cemetery was reserved for the dignitaries only,” he said.

It was reported that the boy died at Ampang Hospital here at noon on Thursday while being treated for severe injuries.

The injuries suffered by the toddler included a fractured skull and bruises on his body, believed to have been inflicted by his stepfather.

The victim’s mother and stepfather immediately fled the scene after sending the boy to the hospital.

Police since then are locating the boy’s biological mother identified as Noraini Samian, 20, and his stepfather, Khairul Izaini Khairuddin, 31, to assist investigation into the case.
