SEREMBAN: Two Bangladesh nationals were charged with cheating at the Sessions Court here today.
The duo allegedly deceived two individuals on the sale of gold coins involving a loss of RM60,000.
No pleas were recorded from the accused Mohammad Shahin, 31, and Mohammad Mamun, 23, as they did not understand Bahasa Melayu.
Judge G. Ramesh set April 30 for re-mention of the case pending the appointment of an interpreter by the two accused.
According to the first charge, the two accused were charged with cheating Ismail Ishak of a total of RM50,000 for the purchase of gold coins.
The offence was committed at a supermarket in Seremban Jaya, at 1 pm on March 13.
On the second charge, they were said to have allegedly deceived Muhammad Syafiq Jamaludin by selling gold coins involving a loss of RM10,000 at the same location at 5pm on March 25.
The accused duo were charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code which is read together with Section 34 of the same act.
It provides for a jail term of no less than 10 years, whipping and a fine, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Akmal Mohamad Azri prosecuted, while both accused were represented by Mohd Safwan Saleh.
