KUALA LUMPUR: An Afghanistan national has been arrested after he threatened a man with a knife and an iron rod.
The incident occurred when the victim and two co-workers were told to escort the foreign student, aged 27, out of his hostel room of a university in Gombak because the latter was found to be positive on ganja.
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Samsor Maarof said the suspect flew into a rage when he was asked to leave.
“The suspect was asked to leave the hostel as he has been expelled from the university effective yesterday for drug offence.
“He suddenly became violent and brandished a knife and an iron rod at the victim while screaming ‘I will kill you, I’m from Afghanistan. If you come back, I will kill you’,” Samsor said in a statement today.
Samsor added that the suspect has been apprehended by the police and the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
The suspect has been remanded and the case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor as soon as possible.
