Filipino man escapes quarantine in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A Filipino man escaped a quarantine order after undergoing a Covid-19 health screening at the Felda Sahabat Health Clinic here, last night.

In the 9pm incident, the man in his 30s, identified as Jul, had gone to the clinic to be screened for the coronavirus.

But when he was later told that he had to be placed at a quarantine centre, he fled the clinic.

“Once the sample for the screening test was taken, the man was ordered to be placed in a quarantine centre.

"During the process of managing (the man's entry to the quarantine centre), he was asked to wait. Instead, he is reported to have fled the clinic.

"Police tried to track the man down and checked his quarters. However, the man had left with his wife," said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nasri Mansor.

Nasri urged the public to assist police and channel information on the man's whereabouts.

He said information can be channelled to investigating officer Inspector Sharifah Nurlin Atiqah Wan Idrus at 014-5907309.
