KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) foiled an attempt to smuggle out 1,240 bottles of vape liquid worth RM124,000 to Thailand , recently.
GOF Ninth Battalion commanding officer Superintendent Nor Azizan Yusof said no one was arrested in the operation at the 'Kak Yah' illegal jetty in Kuala Jambu, Tumpat on Thursday.
He said a GOF Strike Force was on routine duty in the area when they spotted three plastic packages at the Sungai Golok riverbank at about 6.30pm.
"The GOF members waited at the area for almost 15 minutes, but no one turned up to collect the items.
"After checking inside the plastic packages, they found 1,240 small boxes containing the vape liquid," he said in a statement today.
Nor Azizan said an initial investigation showed that the RELX brand of vape liquid, of various flavours, was waiting to be smuggled into the neighbouring country via the illegal jetty.
He said the case is the first of its kind dealt with by the battalion since it took over the border on Oct 15.
Nor Azizan said the seized items were handed over to the state Customs Department for further action.
