Man throws step-grandson from 4th floor window in horrific Setapak tragedy

KUALA LUMPUR: A four-year-old boy was killed, believed to have been flung out from a unit on the fourth floor of an apartment in Danau Kota, Setapak this morning.

The victim who was known to neighbours as Adam, was said to have been thrown out by his step-grandfather after the latter attempted to rape his stepdaughter who was the victim's mother, at about 7.40am.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said they received information of the incident at 8am.

"Preliminary investigation found that the 42-year-old suspect tried to rape his stepdaughter who was sleeping in the living room but was stopped by his wife and other stepchildren.

"The victim's stepchildren between 19 and 29 years old tried to stop him. The suspect then became furious and began striking the others in the house," he told reporters at the crime scene.

Azhan added that the suspect acted out of control when he saw his stepchildren screaming for help from neighbours.

This was when he lifted Adam and headed to the window of the main room and subsequently threw the child out.

"The suspect also jumped out through the same window but fell.

"He was then detained by security guards and members of the public who later handed him over to the police," he said.
