KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen have been arrested in Setapak in connection with an alleged jewellery theft case reported by a local man.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the case, initially classified as an inquiry paper (KEP), was later reclassified under Section 379 of the Penal Code after further information was obtained.
He added that a remand application under the Criminal Procedure Code was filed yesterday, and all suspects were remanded for three days until Nov 2.
"The arrests involved policemen with ranks from Constable to Corporal, aged between 28 and 35.
"The police also seized one receipt and a piece of yellowish metal weighing approximately 11.52 grams," he said in a statement today.
Rusdi added that the police would continue their investigation and urged the public not to engage in speculation that could interfere with the investigation.
