GEORGE TOWN: There has been no signs that 33-year-old Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee, who is wanted by Johor police, is here in Penang.
The businessman with the "Datuk Seri" title, is being sought by police for his alleged involvement in a money laundering and commercial crime syndicate.
State police chief Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said Penang police had also received information from their Johor counterpart to help locate the founder of the Winner Dynasty Group.
"We obtained information from Johor police with regards to their hunt for the man.
"We have shared the information with our men here, including personnel who are manning the road blocks," he said when met after officiating the 214th Police Day at the state police contingent headquarters here this morning.
Johor police are on the hunt for the businessman, whose last known address was Unit 1009, Trigon Residence, Puchong, Selangor.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay had said that the man, who is believed to still be in Puchong, was wanted to assist investigations under Section 130 V to 130 ZB of the Penal Code for offences related to organised crime.
Two investigation papers have been opened concerning Liow in Johor under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) and the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
Previously, he was arrested for assaulting two Rela members who were on duty at the Kou Ong Yah temple in Kuala Lumpur four years ago. He was later acquitted and discharged.
