Cops get witness help on Federal Highway crash

SHAH ALAM: A witness who recorded a four-wheel being driven against the flow of traffic and crashing into a car, killing two colleagues, has lodged a police report.

The incident which took place in the wee hours of Sunday between KM8.5 and 8.6 of the Federal Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur from Klang.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the witness in question stepped forward to assist in the investigation at 9pm on Sunday.

"The witness presented himself with two of his friends who were together in the vehicle.

"Further investigations are continuing to complete the investigation paper," he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, a few hours after the fatal accident, a 0.29-second duration video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.

In the incident at about 1.30am yesterday, a Mitsubishi Triton driven against the traffic flow, the 24-year-old suspect from Kuala Lumpur heading to Klang slammed into the Proton Wira heading to Kuala Lumpur from Klang.

The driver Nur Afiqah Abdul Karim, 18, and front seat passenger Muhammad Hafiz Syamir Dzul Asri, 19, died on the spot due to serious injuries sustained.

Baharudin said the suspect, who tested positive for cannabis, has been remanded until Sept 17.
