HULU SELANGOR: Police fired seven shots at a four-wheel drive vehicle that rammed into their patrol car in Serendah early yesterday morning.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the incident occurred at 2.41am when officers from the district police headquarters, who were in a patrol car, were tailing a suspicious black Mitsubishi Triton.
"When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver rammed into the patrol car, putting the officers' lives at risk.
"Police then opened fire at the suspects' vehicle, but they managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle at the scene," he said in a statement.
The suspects were four local men with prior records.
A search of the suspects' vehicle found burglary tools, including a parang, crowbar, sickle, hammer, and screwdriver.
"Police are tracking down the suspects, and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code (for attempted murder).
"Those with information are urged to come forward and contact the investigation officer, Inspector Mohamad Azraai Firdaus Rosli, at 03-60641223 or the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters at 03-60651021, or the nearest police station," he said.
