Ampang police: Driver fainted when he crashed into furniture shop

KUALA LUMPUR: A driver who crashed into a furniture shop at Kampung Pasir, Ampang Jaya off Middle Ring Road 2 yesterday was confirmed to have fainted while driving.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said test results performed on the 36-year-old driver found him to be free of alcohol substance.

"Meanwhile, the shop worker in his 20s, died while receiving treatment at the Ampang Hospital.

"Preliminary investigation found that the 36-year-old driver fainted causing him to lose control of his vehicle while passing through the road causing him to crash into the shop," he said in a statement.

Farouk said the driver of the vehicle car did not sustain any injuries.

"Blood samples of the car driver were taken for analysis, witnesses of the incident were asked to come forward to provide information on the incident.

"The case is being investigated per Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Yesterday, it was initially reported that the driver of the car was allegedly drunk when the crash took place.
