Remand extended for footballer accused of raping girl in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Police today obtained another one day remand against a 28-year-old football player for allegedly raping a girl in Kampung Kijang on Sunday.

Kelantan acting police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the remand which would end tomorrow, was obtained at the Kota Baru court.

"The four day remand order against the suspect ended today and police have obtained another day," he said.

The suspect was detained soon after the 18-year-old victim lodged a report at the Kota Baru police station about 2pm on Sunday.

In the report, the victim claimed the incident happened about noon when she was throwing rubbish near her home.

The suspect suddenly dragged her into the house and raped her. No one was in the house at the time of the incident.

The suspect was nabbed at his home about 10pm the same day.

The victim also claimed she had been 'sexually abused' by the suspect, who was a regular customer at her food stall, by sending her lewd pictures via WhatsApp since she was 17.
