BENTONG: A 46-year-old man, a Datuk Seri, was among 25 individuals arrested for participating in a wild drug-fuelled party at a bungalow in Janda Baik near Bukit Tinggi here today.
Acting on a public tip-off, the police team discovered drugs believed to be ketamine and ecstasy pills worth some RM800 during the 1am raid.
District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said all the suspects, including 10 women, aged between 18 and 64, tested positive for methamphetamine.
"When police reached the bungalow, the suspects, including eight foreigners, were busy partying. Further investigations led us to discover the drugs.
"We detained all the suspects, including the Datuk Seri, and preliminary urine tests found them positive for methamphetamine. All the suspects have been remanded for four days till Aug 14," he said in a statement today.
Zaiham said initial investigations revealed that the bungalow was rented for RM15,000 for the private party and police were in the midst of identifying the organiser.
He said investigations were being carried out under sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession and consumption of drugs, respectively.
Zaiham warned that police will not compromise in their fight against drugs in the district and offenders will face a heavy penalty.
