Penang cops arrest 4 over death of foreigner

GEORGE TOWN: A foreigner is believed to have been killed in a fight when he was found dead with a stab wound in Bukit Gedung, Bayan Baru near here yesterday.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said police received information on a fight involving foreigners in the area at 11pm.

"Police immediately proceeded to the scene and found a man lying on the ground with a stab wound. It was confirmed that he had died," he said today.

The victim is a 32-year-old cleaner.

Kamarul said, following the incident, police arrested four men, also foreigners, aged 31 to 45, near the scene.

"The motive of the incident is suspected to be revenge, and further investigations are underway," he added.

Kamarul said the foreigners nabbed were a cleaner, sundry store keeper, factory operator and construction worker.

They have been remanded for seven days until Aug 28.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
