KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Perikatan Nasional Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has called allegations that the coalition were funded by gambling companies an attempt to discredit all its members of parliament.
The Machang MP said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's allegations were a political game that was slanderous and aimed at creating a false perception of PN among the public.
He said PN would not protect or condone any sort of wrongdoing and welcomed any sort of investigation into the allegations by the authorities.
"I, as an MP, vehemently deny the accusations that we received funding from gambling companies. I believe that the rakyat will not believe these lies as PN leaders like Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin have already made statements and nothing is being hidden.
"It's not just about the allegations about gambling companies but the issue of the RM600 billion which was allegedly spent without following proper procedure... these are all lies and serious allegations," he said.
Wan Fayhsal was speaking to reporters after lodging a report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters urging the authorities to investigate the allegations.
He said PN had no plans to reveal details about their funding, considering not a single other party had done so.
"However, we are open to supporting any Political Funding Bill in Parliament... in fact, I would champion it myself. It was something which should have been done during Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's time as prime minister, but we didn't have the time."
