YAN: The police inspector arrested for the alleged rape of a teenage girl in his office has denied the accusation.
The 34-year-old suspect, who has been arrested, issued the denial while being questioned by investigating officers, said sources.
It is understood that the police are conducting further checks, including gathering more evidence to be sent to the Chemistry Department.
The source also claimed that police have summoned the victim as well as her family to the to the Yan district police headquarters to have their statements recorded.
"Police have also confiscated the clothing worn by the victim during the incident for DNA testing.
"We have also taken three mobile phones belonging to the victim, her friend as well as the suspect, for forensic testing," said the source.
It was reported yesterday that the 16-year-old girl alleged that she was raped by a police inspector at the district police headquarters at 6.30pm last Wednesday.
She had gone to the police station to report that she was raped by her stepfather.
She claimed that the suspect took advantage of her by claiming that he needed to inspect her. The victim claimed that the man instead raped her.
The girl lodged a police report on the incident three days later, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, the source said the victim, during the investigation, had pointed out the bed where she was allegedly raped.
Police, said the source, had also seized evidence such as a pillow case, a bed sheet with DNA samples, hair, body hair as well as a razor blade.
The items have been sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis.
