KUALA LUMPUR: A married couple has been charged at Ampang Magistrate today for killing a waiter last month.
The couple, Khor Swee Boon, 33 and Ng Hui Yee, 30 nodded and uttered 'understand' when the charges were read out to them before Magistrate Normaizan Rahim this morning.
No plea was recorded from both the accused.
The couple was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries mandatory death upon conviction.
According to the charge sheet, both the accused were alleged to have murdered 29-year-old Cho Lim Fong at Jing Hoe Mei restaurant, Jalan Pandan Indah, at 8.55pm on Dec 29 last year.
Lawyer R.S.N Nayer representing both the accused pled for the court to order bail on Ng, on reasons that she is a woman, a housewife with two small kids aged five and seven years old.
Both children are now placed under Ng's parents care.
However, the court rejected the plea and fixed March 23 for re-mention.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak, on Dec 30 last year was reported as saying that a man died after he touched a package that exploded on him, on the night of Dec 29.
The package was placed on his car bonnet, which was parked in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah, Ampang Jaya, here.
The accused, who are both married to one another, were nabbed by police on Jan 3 this year in Serdang, Kedah.
