Jealousy the motive behind Tawau murder case

KOTA KINABALU: The murder of an e-hailing driver in an oil palm plantation in Tawau on Jan 13, which involved the arrests of eight policemen, including four senior officers, was motivated by jealousy.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said the case was personal and did not compromise Sabah's security.

He added that three civilians were also detained yesterday to assist in investigations.

"Police are collecting evidence and taking statements before handing them over to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,"

Idris told this to reporters after the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters monthly meeting here today.

The deceased's wife, 33-year-old Nurima Juli, 33 who is unemployed, was yesterday charged with murder at the Tawau magistrate's court under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which was read with Section 34.

She was charged with murdering Nurman Bakaratu, 61, in an oil palm plantation near Jalan Anjur Juara, Jalan Apas, Batu 5, here between 7.30pm and 9pm on Jan 13. --Bernama
