IPOH: Police are investigating a man who alleged in a viral clip that a senior police officer at the Ipoh police headquarters refused to accept a complaint on illegal moneylenders from him.
Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan today said they had opened an investigation paper following a report made against the man.
"The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code (Defamation) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (inappropriate use of network facilities and or network services).
"The man said he had misunderstood the advice he received from a policeman and made a mistake uploading the video on TikTok.
"He deleted the video yesterday after realising his mistake."

Yahaya said the man had come to the Sentral police station and introduced himself as a representative of a non-governmental organisation seeking advice about taking down posters advertising moneylenders in Ipoh.
"The man did not meet a senior police officer as claimed and sought advice only from a policeman on duty
"After receiving the advice, he left without saying he wanted to make a report."
Earlier, Yahaya said the allegations of the TikTok user had been referred to the Integrity and Standards Compliance Division, Ipoh Police Department, for investigation. — BERNAMA
