SUNGAI BESAR: Police declined to confirm whether the man in several online posts, which netizens claim to have murdered a 21-year-old pregnant woman here recently, is the same suspect they brought in for questioning.
Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias refrained from making any conclusions to avoid complicating the investigation.
"I cannot control what netizens decide to make viral.
"The photos shared with me are blurry. So, I would rather not comment," he said when contacted.
Today, several screenshots and videos revealing details and the image of a male individual allegedly linked to the brutal murder was circulated online.
It triggered a public outcry causing many to participate in the backlash.
This was fueled further by a woman behind a previously public but now private TikTok account who claimed that she was in a relationship with the individual in question, suggesting that he was indeed the murder suspect.
Commenting on this, Agus stressed that netizens should not comment on formal investigations so matters do not get out of hand.
When asked about updates and news from the victim's family, he highlighted that investigations were still ongoing and that the post mortem will only be carried out tomorrow.
