KOTA KINABALU: A shop assistant was killed after she was stabbed to death by a man, who is believed to be her former fiance, today.
The body of the 22-year-old victim was found lying on the floor with stab wounds on her body at a shopping centre in Jalan Haji Saman here in the 12pm murder.
Kota Kinabalu district deputy police chief Superintendent Kalsom Idris said the police also arrested a 33-year-old man, who was at the scene.
"A team from the Kota Kinabalu district Criminal Investigation Division was rushed to the scene after the police was alerted.
"We also recovered a knife, believed to be the weapon used by the suspect, in the murder."
Kalsom added that police was investigating the motive of the murder.
"The body has been sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for post-mortem," she said.
Kalsom said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
