Company director fined RM50,000 for falsifying documents to claim Perkeso hiring incentives

KUALA LUMPUR: The director of Star Skill Sdn Bhd has been fined RM50,000 for falsifying documents to claim Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) hiring incentives totalling RM31,200.

Sessions Court judge Suzanna Hussain meted out the sentence to Ratah Sivasubramaniam, 54, after the latter pleaded guilty to one count of submitting a fake document to Perkeso, claiming the incentive for 12 workers.

However, according to the charge sheet and the case facts, the 12 names submitted were not the company's workers as they were never paid salaries by the company.

The accused had committed the offence at Wisma Perkeso in Kampung Baru, here, in the month of May, 2021.

Her charge today was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 465 of the same Code which carries imprisonment up to two years, or fine, or both upon conviction.

Before the sentence was meted out, Ratah, through her lawyer Shamani Nadeson, pleaded for a minimum sentence to be called as she is currently suffering from health issues.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fadhly Mohd Zambry had suggested for the court to order RM50,000 fine as the accused had cooperated well with the authorities and her guilty plea had saved the court's time.

He also suggested for the court to order a fair punishment, that would serve as a lesson to the public, as he said, cases involving fake documents used to claim incentives from Perkeso were on the rise.
