PASIR PUTEH: Police arrested a Form Five student for possession of 74.80g of heroin worth RM40,000 here yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said the 16-year-old was arrested in Kampung Lembah Semerak here.
Police also seized a Yamaha motorcycle belonging to the student in the 5pm operation, he said.
"A police team went to the area about 5pm following public tip-offs and found a youth sitting on a motorcycle.
"When he saw the officers, he attempted to flee, but failed.
"Upon inspection, the officers discovered the heroin and arrested the suspect."
He said the student, who is a local resident, tested positive for drugs.
Zaizul Rizal added that the case was being investigated under Section 39 B and Section 15 (1) (a) of Drug Dangerous Act 1952.
