Man with long criminal record shot dead by unknown assailant in Klang

KLANG: A man with a ciminal record of 12 offences, including violent crime, was shot dead by an unknown assailant or assailants in Jalan Hamzah Alang, Persiaran Hamzah Alang, here last night.

Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner Vijaya Rao Samachulu said police received a report that a shooting had occurred in the Kapar area at 10.35pm.

He said a team from the district police headquarters was immediately despatched to the scene in front of a two-storey shophouse.

"Initial investigations revealed that several gunshots were heard by members of the public and there then occurred a small accident.

"Checks on the identity of the victim then revealed that the 36-year-old had 12 entries in a criminal record that included drug-related offences and violent crimes," he said in a statement.

Vijaya Rao said police were now looking for witnesses to the incident.

"We are also still canvassing for evidence as well as any closed-circuit television camera footage that may help identify the perpetrators," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
