KUALA LUMPUR: Police are in the process of identifying the assets belonging to MYAirline Sdn Bhd co-founder and two of his family members, suspected to have been acquired through proceeds from money laundering activities.
Bukit Aman commercial crime investigation department director Datuk Ramli Yoosuf said a comprehensive investigation is underway to trace any assets, bank accounts, or properties believed to have been acquired through these activities.
Police, he said, are also probing the modus operandi used by the suspects in collecting illegal deposits, particularly through one of their business networks dating back three years.
"The investigations also involve determining the type of crime involved, including how the suspects procured the deposits," Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying.
Ramli added that the remand for all three suspects will end today.
"However, it cannot be confirmed whether the three suspects will be further remanded or released on bail," he said.
Police had on Oct 18 confirmed the arrest of MYAirline co-founder and majority shareholder of, Goh Hwan Hua, along with his wife and son. https://www.nst.com.my/news/crime-courts/2023/10/968454/police-confirm-a...
Goh, 57; Neow Ean Lee, 55; and Goh Tze Han, 26, were arrested at their residence in Shah Alam.
All three were detained to assist in an investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
