KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Noor Farida Ariffin, a former judge, ex-diplomat and co-founder of the G25 group of prominent retired civil servants, died today.
She was 76.
Her passing was confirmed by G25 executive secretary Jasmine Zulkifli
"She passed away at 1.36pm at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital today.
"The body is still at the hospital and is being managed. After this, she will be taken to the Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and the funeral prayer will be performed after Asar prayers."
"She will be buried at the Muslim cemetery in Jalan Ampang," she told the New Straits Times.
Farida had a distinguished 36-year career in the civil service.
She served as a magistrate and sessions court judge before being seconded to the Foreign Ministry.
From 2000 to 2007, she was the Malaysian ambassador to the Netherlands and later promoted to director-general of Wisma Putra's research, treaties, and international law department.
She retired from the Foreign Ministry in 2012.
After retirement, she led the law reform committee at the National Council of Women's Organisations, served as a trustee for the Women's Aid Organisation, and actively advocated for women's rights in Malaysia.
