KUALA LUMPUR: Police are set to record the statement of Kepala Batas member of parliament, Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad, who is accused of making defamatory statements against DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng.
Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the statement recording process is scheduled for this Monday.
"So far, we have received four police reports regarding this issue, and the investigation is being carried out by the federal police CID's Classified Crime Investigation Unit.
"Siti Mastura's statement will be taken on Nov 13, 2023 (Monday)," he told BH today, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Siti Mastura, during one of the programmes in Kemaman, Terengganu, reportedly said the former finance minister and several DAP leaders had ties with former Communist Party chief Chin Peng and Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore.
Lim has initiated criminal action and legal proceedings against her for the allegations she made.
