KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has praised the authorities' swift response in undertaking investigations to locate and apprehend those guilty for the attack on the Beruas member of parliament's residence, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.
Its vice-president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man believed that differences of views and beliefs did not justify any actions that went beyond the legal and moral limits, particularly those that jeopardised life and property safety.
"Therefore, every effort must be made to diffuse any arising tension resulting from these differences immediately, fairly, and prudently," Tuan Ibrahim said in a Facebook post today.
Yesterday, it was reported that Pas joined the chorus condemning the alleged arson attack on Ngeh's residence, which caused property damage.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Pas also welcomed the immediate actions taken by the authorities to control the situation and conduct a swift investigation to identify and apprehend those involved.
Takiyuddin said the arson attack was unacceptable not only because it violated the law but also contradicted the fundamental principles of peaceful and harmonious communal living.
It was reported that the house and three vehicles belonging to Ngeh caught fire, believed to be the result of a Molotov cocktail yesterday morning.
Ngeh in a Facebook post said the fire was successfully contained, with no casualties reported.
