KUALA LUMPUR: A 0.8ha forest area in Bukit Broga, Semenyih near here caught fire tonight.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a report on the incident at 7.39pm.
State Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said a six-member team were dispatched from the Semenyih Fire and Rescue station along with a fire and rescue tender (FRT).
He said the blaze was a forest atop Bukit Broga.
"The forest area on fire is estimated to be about two acres (0.8 hectares), and operations are currently underway.
"At the moment, we have yet to determine the cause of the fire," he said in a statement today.
Earlier, several videos circulating on social media showed the fire in Bukit Broga, known as a popular destination for hiking activities.
