KUALA LUMPUR: Rescuers have found the body of a man who was feared drowned after a lorry fell into the sea in Westport, Port Klang.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed that the body of the 24-year-old victim was recovered at 5pm today.
"The Water Rescue Team successfully retrieved the victim's body, which was then handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement.
It is understood the body of the man was found at a depth of 13m, some 20m from where the incident had taken place.
Witnesses had reported seeing the lorry parked at the side before it suddenly accelerated and crashed through a barrier before plunging into the sea.
Earlier, Mukhlis had said the department was conducting a search and rescue operation to locate a man who went missing when the lorry fell into the sea.
He had said the department received a distress call at 12.42pm and deployed 25 personnel to the scene.
