KUDAT: A man suspected of robbing and attacking a money changer here this morning has been apprehended by police.
The suspect, a foreign national in his 30s, was arrested in less than 10 hours after the incident occurred.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said that they received information from a woman, who reported that her husband had been robbed at 6.55am.
He said, based on the information, a police team went to the scene and found the victim severely injured with slash wounds on his body.
"The victim, who is in his 30s, was then sent to Kudat Hospital for treatment. Further investigations and witness statements revealed that the motive was robbery," he said in a media statement today.
Haris added that an operation was launched immediately, and the suspect was tracked down and arrested.
"The foreign suspect was arrested in a bush area in Jalan Sikuati Lama, Sungai Karang, here, at 4.30pm today. Investigation is ongoing, which is classified under Section 394 of the Penal Code," he said.
