BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have detained two men in connection with a fight that occurred at a grocery store in Seberang Jaya on Monday.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris, confirmed that the suspects, aged in their 30s and 40s, were apprehended between 2.30pm and 11pm yesterday.
"Both men were detained around Bukit Mertajam to assist in the investigation," he said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 324 and 323 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
Helmi said that one of the men sustained minor facial injuries, while the other remained unharmed.
He further explained that two video recordings were discovered in the X application yesterday, revealing that the incident occurred at 11.50pm on Monday at a grocery store in Seberang Jaya.
"During the altercation, a customer requested liquor from a salesperson, leading to a misunderstanding and subsequent fight," he elaborated.
The confrontation escalated outside the premises, where one of the men struck the salesperson's head with a helmet.
Previously, two viral videos depicted the altercation, showing the men taunting each other and instigating a physical confrontation while onlookers watched.
The altercation was eventually halted by another customer present during the incident.
