TANAH MERAH: The army last night detained two men who smuggled 69 head of cattle into the country.
The Second Infantry Division said in a statement the men were caught in a joint army-police operation on the Malaysia-Thai border.
"We traced the two men to a forest near the border about 8.20pm based on information that we received.
"The two Malaysians, aged 29 and 37, smuggled in the cattle to meet the demand for meat during Hari Raya Aidiladha," the statement said.
It added that the 69 head of cattle and two trailers were seized, and that the two men are now in police custody.
