Disabled man slashed in neck outside Kluang tuck shop

KLUANG: A 32-year-old disabled man was slashed in the neck outside a tuck shop in Taman Kluang Barat in Kahang yesterday.

The victim, who holds a person with disabilities (OKU) Mykad, was rushed to the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital.

He is reported to be in stable condition.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh confirmed the incident, which occurred at 1.30pm. He said that the 45-year-old suspect was arrested some four hours later near a petrol station in Taman Bersatu.

According to Bahrin, the suspect, who has prior drug-related and criminal records, admitted to the assault during police interrogation.

A pocket knife was allegedly used in the attack. However, the motive remains unclear at this time.

The suspect, who tested positive for morphine, has been remanded while investigations continue under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

If convicted, he faces up to ten years in prison, a fine, or both.
