Man dies outside Jasin Hospital in parang attack

JASIN: A 24-year-old man was brutally slashed outside a barbershop in Taman Rim Baru before he was attacked again in front of the Jasin Hospital here on Sunday night (Aug 25).

He succumbed to severe injuries at the Jasin Hospital Emergency Department.

District police chief deputy superintendent Ahmad Jamil Radzi said a group of masked men first attacked the victim outside a barber shop in the 8.40pm incident.

"The injured victim somehow managed to contact his brother who brought him to the hospital.

"Upon arriving at the hospital's Emergency Department, the car driven by the brother was intercepted by another car ferrying the group of men," he said in a statement.

He said the parang-wielding group managed to smash the car's windshield.

In an attempt to escape, the brother crashed into an ambulance, he said.

Fearing for his life, the younger brother ran to the police station to get help, leaving the victim behind.

"The victim was pronounced dead by the hospital's medical officer at 10.15pm.

"We have arrested three men age between 21 and 31 in connection with the attack."

Abdul Jamil said police have launched manhunt for the remaining two suspects who are still at large.

The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
