Two held for transporting diesel without permit, receipts

BELURAN: Two men were detained after being found transporting about 20,000 litres of subsidised diesel at a checkpoint at Jalan Sapi Nangoh, here, yesterday.

The suspects were apprehended by officers of the 20th Battalion of the General Operations Force Beluran during Operation Taring.

District police chief superintendent Hasan Majid said a lorry was stopped at the checkpoint.

"Upon initial investigation, both suspects in the vehicle failed to produce a permit from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry and receipts for the purchase of the diesel.

"The lorry and its cargo were also seized," he said when contacted today.

He added that the suspects and seized items were handed over to the ministry's enforcement officers.

"The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961," he said.
