Man who stole Honda parked at mall was high on syabu

KUALA LUMPUR: The man who stole a Honda parked at a shopping mall here was high on drugs.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said a urine test was performed on the 58-year-old suspect immediately after his arrest and he tested positive for syabu.

"We have completed our investigation and handed over the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutors' office.

"We have been instructed to charge the suspect under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for administering dangerous drugs," he said when contacted today.

He said the suspect will be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex tomorrow morning to face the charges.

It was reported that a man who dropped off his car at a shopping mall's valet service found it missing when he came back 30 minutes later to pick it up about 12.48pm on Sunday.

Swift work from the Dang Wangi and Selangor police led to the recovery of the car and arrest of a suspect less than two hours after it was reported stolen.

The vehicle was spotted by a police patrol car at 2.35pm near USJ1 Avenue.

The suspect tried to flee when approached by police, but was apprehended.
