KUALA LUMPUR: Four individuals, including a married influencer couple, have been released from remand today.
They were remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on July 11.
Sources said each of the suspects were required to post bail amounting to RM100,000, with RM20,000 paid in cash and the remaining RM80,000 guaranteed without collateral, with one guarantor.
They said the suspects were ordered to report to the MACC office once a month and comply with any further requests from the commission until the investigation is concluded.
The suspects were detained on July 10 when they arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to provide statements regarding their suspected involvement in the misappropriation of public donation funds.
"The couple is believed to have engaged in this activity since 2020, misappropriating collected donations that were not properly channelled.
"It is estimated that the misappropriated funds amount to about RM3 million. Two additional suspects have also been detained in connection with the same case," the source said.
The release from remand was given by magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohaniddin.
MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the release when contacted.
