80 illegal squatter houses in KK demolished

KOTA KINABALU: Eighty illegal squatter houses here were demolished yesterday.

The action was carried out through the Integrated Operation Against Illegal Immigrants (Op PATI Bersepadu Mega) from 10 am to 3 pm.

District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda, said the five-hour operation also detained three undocumented Filipino women.

"The arrests are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 51(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said in a media statement today.

The operation was conducted jointly with the General Operations Force (PGA), National Registration Department (JPN), Malaysia Volunteers Corps Department (RELA), Civil Defence Force (APM), Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Chief Minister's Department (JKM), Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Sabah State Water Department (JAND), Land and Survey Department, and Social Welfare Department (JKM).
