Form Two student requires 40 stitches after being beaten up over damaged mobile phone

RAUB: A 14-year-old boy required 40 stitches on the head after he was assaulted by three teenagers who demanded him to replace a damaged mobile phone in Taman Sempalit Aman here on July 19.

The trio, aged between 16 and 17, had attacked the victim before he fell into a drain at 10.15am.

Raub police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said based on the information provided by the victim, police managed to pick up the three suspects.

"The Form Two student knew his attackers and they were earlier involved in a fight after the trio demanded a new mobile phone from him.

"Several weeks ago, the victim's younger sibling had accidentally damaged a brand new mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects.

"Investigations revealed that during the incident on July 19, the suspects were unhappy with the victim after he failed to replace the damaged phone. This led the suspects to attack the victim before he fell into a nearby drain," he said, adding that no weapons were used in the incident.

Shahril said the victim lodged a report about 11.15am yesterday and the three suspects, who were all secondary school students, were detained and remanded until tomorrow (July 22).

He said the case is being investigated for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
